FCC Application Steps

Please see the steps for the FCC application process we followed when getting our certificate. If any of the steps have changed, please reach out to us so we can update this list to help other people in the riding community.

  1. Go to website:
    1. https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/systems-utilities/universal-licensing-system
  2. Click on New User Registration.
  3. Click on Register.
    1. Complete all questions.
    2. Register as an individual. 
    3. Print the last page which includes your FRN (FCC Registration Number).  You will need this number to file your application. 
  4. Go back to step 1 and click on the website link.
  5. Click on: File Online
    1. Type in your FRN and Password
  6. Click on: Apply for a new License
  7. Then click the drop down:
    1. Scroll to bottom. 
    2. Select: ZA - General Mobile Radio (GMRS)
    3. Click Continue
  8. Complete the FCC application. 
    1. After clicking (Submit Application)
    2. We printed our application to save the documents. 
    3. Then You will need to pay the $70 fee. 
  9. Click (Continue for Payment Options)
  10. Put in your FRN and Password under the (Payer FRN Login) on the right side of the page. 
  11. Complete the payment information.  If you select credit card... it does give you a warning that you are leaving the FCC site.
  12. Once payment is made, it allows you to email yourself a receipt. We printed the last page as our receipt. 
  13. Within 72hrs we logged back into the website listed below to obtain a copy of your certificate:
